I looked to the Log Cabin quilt as inspiration for my Zen Rockpile. I had several false beginnings and lots of reflection about what was working for me and what was not. I worked through the challenge of creating a quilt that was visually pleasing as well as rewarding to construct. I reached that sweet spot: my making Zen. The name of the piece captures the desire to reach for enlightenment, and the reminder to not take myself too seriously, because sometimes (as reflected in the quilting), life is just a pile of rocks.
