Wasabi Improv

Wasabi Improv is an improvised interpretation of a traditional Log Cabin quilt. Each block consists of a navy-and-white polka-dot “hearth” surrounded by strips of Kona cotton Wasabi “logs.” The creation of this quilt was based on process rather than design. I cut hearth blocks of random sizes, and varied the width of the Wasabi strips used to “build” each block. I adore Kona Wasabi and enjoy the monochromatic texture I was able to create piecing the finished blocks of varying sizes and shapes. I used both a long-arm quilting machine and my home sewing machine to quilt the straight lines and hearth shapes.
