Cardinal Cabin 1.0

This quilt is an adaptation of the traditional Log Cabin block. I enjoyed using the white negative space to contrast with the gray fabrics all in the Log Cabin block. I added pops of color to the center Log Cabin to bring the quilt to life. I was inspired while creating this quilt to cut the blocks in half and arrange them with other blocks, thus creating the small triangles of color. These small pops of triangle remind me of the different directions, hence “cardinal,” in which our lives point. I also added a dimensional component with the colored flange. We are always trying to recreate ourselves, creating new paths and trying to figure out which direction to go.
