83” X 83”
Originally designed for the QNN “Quilt Remix: Vintage Pattern, Modern Twist” TV Series, this quilt is a bold diversion from Maria Tavy Umhay’s “Cow Paths” quilt that served as its inspiration. Designed specifically to incorporate scale, offset grid, and negative space, this quilt uses two very similar blocks in its construction. The restricted color palette of solids and prints that read as solids keeps the overall design simple and clean, providing the perfect backdrop for the star of this quilt: the quilting provided by Christine Perrigo.
Repeated complex curved designs play well against the sharp angles of the piecing. Strategic placement of colored threads, metallic threads, and retroreflective Signal thread highlight the repeated quilting designs and provide a special surprise to any viewer who uses flash photography. This quilt received a Judge’s Choice Ribbon at the AQS Show in Paducah, Kentucky, in April 2017.
