Breaking Dishes

My challenge was the result of childhood memories resurfacing after reviewing the antique quilts from the museum collection selected as inspiration for making modern quilts. My inspiration piece was the two-color broken dishes quilt; my memory was deliberately breaking dishes while I was drying them, perhaps when I was four or five. After letting a dish drop, I would then beg for another chance and promise to be very careful. I would then surreptitiously break another. I don’t think I liked those simple white dishes. In this new quilt, I used mostly white circles and fractions of circles against a vibrant background meant to brighten what is a somewhat less-than-happy memory.
